As a prospective parent you want to give your baby the best start in life. The information on this page can help you and your baby have a healthy pregnancy.
To start with, you should contact your midwife as soon as you think you may be pregnant. An appointment will then be arranged for you to have a full assessment of your individual needs, to help you to have a healthy pregnancy. Your midwife will also give you information about the local maternity service, and the choices which are available to you about where you can receive this care.
If you’re pregnant, have a young baby, or are planning a pregnancy, you can get lots of advice from NHS Choices. On this site you will find the Pregnancy Care Planner which gives lots of useful information for you and your baby’s health. You can also enter your postcode to find out about your local maternity services, and get in touch with your midwife in the early stages of pregnancy.
To contact your midwife, phone or enquiry at your GP surgery or local Children’s Centre.
