This new service will provide GP services for patients who currently use Locks Road Branch Surgery, which is due to close, and do not wish to travel to the main surgery in Whiteley and will have additional space for current and future residents within the local area.
Following the decision made by Dr Roope and Partners GP Practice to consolidate their services onto a single site at their main surgery in Whiteley, resulting in the closure of their Locks Road branch surgery in Locks Heath, NHS Hampshire worked with local practices and estates specialists to explore and develop feasible options for providing GP services for local people in the Locks Heath area, including the expected population growth.
During the autumn the Hampshire Local Involvement Network (LINk) discussed the three options with local patients and residents and used these views to make recommendations to NHS Hampshire.
“I would like to thank everyone who took the time to share their views by filling in a survey or attending a drop-in event,” said Dr Stuart Ward, medical director for the Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth PCT Cluster. “Following the Board decision we will now develop plans to establish a GP service at Fareham Community Hospital. In the meantime Dr Roope and Partners have agreed to continue to provide services from both the Whiteley and Locks Road Surgeries until the new service is established.”
The Hampshire Local Involvement Network engagement report is available online.
