New NHS dental services coming to the Winchester area

The signing of a new contract means seeing a NHS dentist will get even easier for residents in Winchester and the surrounding area. NHS Hampshire has awarded a new £1.1 million per year contract which will see a new dental practice opening in autumn 2010. As well as providing high street dental services in Winchester from 8am to 8pm seven days a week, the new service will provide a mobile service in Stockbridge, Bishops Waltham, Wickham and East or West Meon.

“We are delighted to have awarded this contract to Iosis Clinic Limited and will be working closely with them over the next few months as they get ready to start the new service,” said Natalie Jones, lead commissioning manager for primary care dental services, NHS Hampshire. “We are really excited that we can provide a mobile service as this means people will be able NHS dental treatment in their local town.”

“The new practice is part of NHS Hampshire’s investment programme in NHS dental care available to Hampshire residents and it will see over 9,500 patients,” Natalie said. “However, I would urge local people not to try and register with the practice at the moment. As soon as we are able to take registrations we will let local people know through the Dental Helpline website and NHS Hampshire website.”

If you need emergency treatment whilst waiting to register, call the Dental Helpline on 0845 050 8345 as usual, between 8.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
